OSCAR Test

Have you guessed it from the previous post??? Hiak hiak..... If you havent, the following account should be a clear indication... :)

We went to TMC for the OSCAR test on 26 November 2008. Appointment was at 9am.

If you are wondering what the OSCAR test is.... here's an extract:

It is an earlier and more accurate method of screening for risk of fetal anomalies, in particular Down's Syndrome. It is a combination of maternal age, fetal NT and serum biochemistry. In short, it meant 1) ultrasound measurement of Nuchal Translucency (NT) at 11-13 weeks 6 days gestation of the fetus, 2) a sample of the mother's bloos is analysed for levels of free beta hCG and PAPP-A (pregnancy associated plasma Protein A). Er.... dont ask me what all this "big words" meant, cos I also dont know.

Anyway, for those who are concern, I cleared those tests. Of cos both Brian and I are elated!

I had to take the ultrasound scan 3 times becos:

the first time, baby was in a perfect position, but becos me, who is so scare of ticklish, moved alittle when the scanner moved. Thus, baby also decided to change position. Boo to me, rite???

got to go take my blood test, walk about for 10-20 mins before the 2nd try. this time, i was mentally prepared but.... baby decided to do stunts, which is diving. probably just like the father.... hahahha

no choice, got to walk around again.... and i have with me a very full bladder. but leh, cannot go toilet as it will be easier to scan with a full bladder.

the 3rd time, baby is really cooperative. maybe it was becos Brian kept rubbing my tummy and asking baby to be cooperative so that we can go shopping after that. haha... and well, baby is really good by lying flat. The person taking the scan managed to take a few screenshots of what she needed to take. but now, i guess baby fell asleep. either that or is lost in his/her own world. hahah..... becos no matter how i cough or laugh or move sideways, baby decided to not move at all, lying nicely with the head tucked in. we needed baby to be actually lying straight or "standing" cos we needed to measure baby's length to correctly and further confirm the EDD.

And guess what?? Brian said baby is just like me. Stubborn and metal teeth. Dont wana move means dont wana move. wahhahahahahah

And when we decided to give up, well, baby decided to wake up and dance. wahahhah.... ccan you imagine our expressions????!!!!

i think baby gonna bring us lotsa laughter...

thinking of this, i cant help but smile.

waiting for the next appointment. and hopefully, gender will be revealed.
